Trojans Hold Off Marin, Advance to Face #5 Delta

The #12 seeded Skyline Women's Basketball team built double digit leads twice in their 1st Round CCCAA Northern California Regional playoff game against visiting College of Marin, but each time the #21 seeded Mariners stormed back into the game on Wednesday night in San Bruno. Marin cut the Skyline lead to just 3 points in the closing moments, but Skyline was able to survive and advance with a 64-59 win. The Trojans will travel to #5 seeded San Joaquin Delta College on Saturday, February 25th @ 7pm.

The Trojans raced out to a 22-10 first quarter advantage and took a 34-27 lead into the halftime break. Entering the 4th quarter Skyline seemed to have the game well in hand, taking their biggest lead 55-41, but turnovers and timely Mariner shooting created a tense final few minutes for Skyline.

Sophomore Lala Lautaimi lead the Trojans with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Tatiana Newsome chipped in 13 points and 7 rebound. Angela Olive contributed to the win with 6 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds.
