Skyline College Women’s Wrestling Takes 2nd Place at Santa Rosa Junior College Invitational

In just its first season as a program, the Skyline College women's wrestling team delivered an impressive performance at the Santa Rosa Junior College Women's Invitational on Saturday, March 22, 2025. With six wrestlers placing in the top three of their respective weight classes, Skyline secured a strong 2nd place team finish.

Highlighting the team's success was Graciela Caro (103 lbs), who dominated her finals match with a 12-2 technical fall victory over Karissa McDaniel, avenging an earlier season loss. Other top performances included Arianna McPike (138 lbs), who placed 3rd; Shannon Cleary (145 lbs), earning 2nd; Jamie Micallef (160 lbs), who posted three wins on her way to a 2nd-place finish; Brynn Adasiewicz (180 lbs), finishing 3rd; and Alia Vunipola (207 lbs), who secured 2nd place with a fall victory over Grace Mercado of Sacramento City College in her final match.

Assistant Coach Sirena Konishi praised the team's effort and progress, stating, "The improvement we've seen in just a short time is incredible. Our wrestlers continue to work hard, and today's results reflect their dedication."

Skyline College competes in the Big 8 Conference of the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A). The program's rapid success in its inaugural season signals a promising future for women's wrestling at Skyline.
