Alex Smith enters his first season as an assistant coach for Skyline in 2021-22.

Alex brings a wide-range of basketball experience to the program. He's held positions with the Santa Cruz Warriors basketball operations department, successful high school programs in the bay area, and the Bay City Warriors club program. Most recently, Alex served as an assistant coach for Archbishop Riordan, in a season where the Crusaders advanced all the way to the Open Division Championship game. 

Alex's position with the Santa Cruz Warriors reunited him with his former high school coach Kris Weems. In that role, he was responsible for film breakdown/analysis and helped with player development.

Alex prepped at Menlo School, where he received all-league honors and won two CCS titles. He played his collegiate basketball at Claremont McKenna College, where he had the opportunity to play for the school's all-time winningest coach Ken Scalmanini. At Claremont, he was a part of two SCIAC Championship teams.

In addition to earning his bachelor's degree from Claremont McKenna, he recently completed his master's degree in Sport Managament from the University of San Francisco.
