Trojans split series against #4 Fresno City to open 2020

Skyline's Baseball team opened the 2020 splitting a pair of road games at state ranked #4 Fresno City College.

Skyline opened with a win on Friday night under the lights behind Sophomore Dylan McDonald (W, 1-0) who tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the third inning, taking advantage of a wild pitch to plate their first run of 2020. Freshman Jack Mettam collected 3 hits and a pair of 2RBI, including a run scoring single in the 5th inning and a bases loaded walk in the 6th to push the Skyline lead to 5-0.

Andrew Roy (3-5, RBI) and Levi Stubbles (2-4, R, RBI) both had multi-hit starts to their season.

On Saturday, Skyline cut the score to 2-1 when Trey Zahursky scored on a pinch hit double off the bat of Jack Harris in the top of the eighth inning, but the Trojans were retired in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Conor Hourigan (L, 0-1) and Gene Aberouette combined for a strong outing, allowing just the two runs while striking out nine.

Skyline will travel to Laney College on Tuesday, Jan 28th. First pitch 2:00pm
